Don’t photograph planes

So, apparently you can get into trouble for taking a picture of a plane from the gate, or for taking pictures, video, or making recordings on board. This is legally ambiguous, and airlines’ policies are unclear and sometimes not even posted. Simply making a flight attendant “feel uncomfortable” can now potentially get you in trouble and at risk of being ejected from a flight (although not from a plane in flight … yet).
I may have put myself at risk when I took pictures both of my airplane from the gate and a couple pictures in flight. I was discreet and did not take pictures of fellow travelers or of the flight crew, though.
